The King and Queen of Chinnor
2017
Client: Chinnor Parish Council
Material: Oak
The sculptural seating was inspired by its surroundings the history of the village and informed by its community. The village of Chinnor has a rich history of lace making, wood turning and farming, whilst the site where the sculpture is located has a wealth of wild flowers which in late spring early summer was difficult to ignore.
Working with the local lace group, primary school, youth club and wider community we developed ideas based around the lace makers bobbins allowing the shapes in the sculptures to be informed by the agriculture of the area and the seed heads of the wild flowers.
